Hokkaido is famous for its fresh food, with ample shoreline providing fresh-caught seafood for donburi, and broad pastures giving dairy and beef cattle room to graze. While travelers with a taste for Japan's super-high-quality wagyu beef might beeline towards Kobe, it really shouldn't be a surprise that Hokkaido's a great place to sample Japan's choicest cuts.

Furano wagyu cows are raised with care in the Furano Basin, which lies at the foot of Mount Tokachi in Daisetsuzan National Park at Hokkaido's center.

Their feed is a unique mixture that includes wheat, hay, rice straw, wheat straw, and beet pulp, and is free from additives. We also raise the value of the beef as high as possible by feeding them okara, beer lees, and more. Furano Wagyu is popular as a result of superior fattening techniques and meticulous care.

A5 Wagyu is an experience as much as a meal. We recommend cooking your A5 Wagyu one at a time in small strips and eating as you cook to fully savor it. The Japanese cut for 200g is much thinner than the American cuts (< 0.5 inches).

Your A5 Wagyu will arrive frozen and can easily be defrosted overnight in the refrigerator. We highly recommend cutting it into thin strips and searing on a stainless steel pan (not over open flame).
